    Lead Free Muzzleloading Round Recommendation

I just picked up a Ruger 77/50 inline muzzleloader .50 cal.

I plan on using it to hunt deer and pig here in California and I need some recommendations on some bullets that are lead free and can knock down deer and pig.

    Thanks!

Just got mine dialed in for Elk in Utah next week.

300gr hornady SST's and 110gr of blackhorn 209 powder. I cannot recommend blackhorn 209 enough, it is an incredible powder. Faster, cleaner and more accurate than anything out there. I shot 20 rounds out of my CVA without swabbing with no loss in accuracy and cleanup was a breeze. Ill never shoot a pellet again! You may want to consider the 250gr SST's but I wanted more sectional density for the elk so the 300's are for me.

I know some guys go crazy for Thor bullets, and claim they are the best. They may be worth a shot. Mine will shoot 3 rounds 2moa with a 1x scope so that's what is really limiting me but i cant have more magnification for Utah.

Oh geez, I didn't even think about this bologna. My ML wasn't on my radar.

I have gone to Barnes spitfire TMZ and they are good bullets. but if you leave California, sabots are not allowed in some states. Good luck. Muzzleloaders can add a lot of hunting opportunities.
