work/cash in exchange for hunt opportunity on your land..

I've been browsing the internet in hopes to find someone that owns property I can hunt on..

I'm not looking for a guided hunt and I'm not looking for a canned hunting area, just private land with wild game on it

It would be cool if this thread could be a place for land owners and hunters to chat about hunting opportunities...

I'd be willing to exchange labor or cash for an opportunity to hunt on private property...

whether its turkey, hog dove or duck, I would love ANY opportunity to hunt

for example, I've been searching all over for land that has wild hogs on it, but it seems to be almost non existent in California. I believe i read on DFGs website that over 95% of pigs are taken on private property! i want in on that any way possible!

    ideas?

I wish this would work but... If there are any land owners on this board, they are also hunters, and most hunters want to keep the game for themselves. Maybe try a farming discussion board. Would be awesome if this worked, many in the same boat, myself included.

Also talk to people, see a camo hat, talk to them. Never know who your talking with.

There is also another problem.....Legal issues. If you get hurt, when you leave the gate open and the cattle get out on a road and cause a wreck, etc.

Then there is the damage you cause to fences/gates not properly crossing them...Seen it far too many times. What about the trash you leave for the owner to clean up.

When you shoot one of his livestock or shoot so close to them that you have them nervous that they do not gain weight or give milk like they should. What about the crops you trample down getting to your spot or retrieving the game you shot. Driving trucks/ATV's where they do not belong is another problem for the crops, compacting the land and causing problems for the landowner.

Then when someone is given permission they sometimes feel that is also an invitation for their 400 friends to come along.

In the old days it was easier. Now days with the way lawyers have screwed up things, all the PC people and people who do not take responsibility for their actions landowners will not take the chance

I do wish I could have places to hunt as I did when I was young. We had a ranch and friends/neighbors who allowed us on their place. This was easier because 1) we were raised on a ranch and knew how to treat others property correctly 2) we took responsibly for our actions 3) we would be there to help the other person out when needed. 4) we were NOT PC 5) We would not sue the owner when/if we got hurt. It was our own fault most of the time anyway.6) Anything we screwed up we would make right without question.

That is exactly what you hear when asking for permission. The rancher throws a cigarette butt on the ground so the new guy on the property empties his ashtray at the front gate then turns three dogs loose on a sheep Ranch.
