    Early doves hunt

went to IV last saturday for hunt. Bagged around 70 birds (eurasians and pigeons). spent sunday morning to clean them up and put them in Freezer.
Now, I have enough meat until opening day.

That's pretty awesome right there. How many boxes of shells did you go through?

A case (10 boxes). The raining day before my hunting day stopped the birds fly around. Hopefully, in September it will be better chance.

Good off season practice. Better than skeet any day.

              Good job!

One time I shot over 70 doves in one hunt.......never again too many to clean......after 25 I'm done.......learned that lesson......but when you have a case it's hard not to keep shooting.......back to square one!

Hey genius , no one said Blythe was in the IV. You realize he lives in Sacramento and if he's traveling down to Blythe for work the IV isn't too far out of the way . Thanks for the positive contribution pilgrim...

Good shooting OP , looks like a great time .

Blythe has a population of collared doves. And is only an hour from iv. Pigeons are what are tough to get permission to hunt. Always around feedlots and silage / farming operations.

                      +1
Yes Pigeons are tough to get permission to hunt. only for farm feedlots animal control.
Otherwise, it will be a fat ticket if we hunt outside of those places.

I don't remember how long we need to keep a feathered wing attached to all gamebirds taken. I will have to check. I will be working in Cathedral city before long and might run down to IV although last time I worked in Thermal in July I only went in pool or canal to hot to move.
