    Late Season Goose

Anyboby get a decent hunt in. Mine was all over by 8:30 on Sat with one Snow to show for it.

Specks were everywhere in the Sac no shoot zone just to rub it in of course.

My lease co-owners in the Sac closed zone (Lambertville/Willow Creek Ranch) had similar luck - 2 days, 4 hunters, 5 snows total

Luckily we have a guide booked for Wednesday in the 'open' balance of state zone with Cameron Tucker - will update on our results.

If it is at all possible, that guy will get you on the birds.
      I fly everywhere backwards.

I had other things to do on Sat.. so for me...

Had group of 6 or 7 of us on Sunday morning.. managed to get 4.. had a different smaller group in the afternoon on Sunday, and managed 14 snows.. I even got a cpl of doubles...

Stayed for Monday, was able to only get one... hunted the afternoon and didn't fire a shot.. Speculation that the geese took off for the foothills and are eating grass out that way.. Saw lots of specks, but since we were in the closure zone, were not able to harvest a single one.. There were LOTS of ducks of all kinds flying to/fro on the property.. the most Pintail I've seen since the season closed..

We have grass fields, and right now I have grinds on rice stubble north and south of me. So the birds are bouncing back and forth early morn and late afternoon. Snows are being stupid, won't commit when they can see the large grind south of me. The specks are dive bombing us. We will get a large flock working us out front, then all the sudden we get a single or a pair from behind suiciding on our spread.

We smacked 11 snows and 6 specks in our group - hunted AM and PM. I shot 2 specks and 3 snows - was an awesome hunt with a great guide.

I'd recommend Cam Tucker to anyone looking for a guided hunt. Dude spent all day Tuesday scouting for us, then set dekes from 8-midnight (1400 socks and full bodies), then got us into THICK grinds of snows and some fun pass shooting on specks. We passed on early birds that we definitely should have shot at but were hoping the following waves would commit to the decoys. I'm now trying to convince him to take us on a NE zone hunt before that season ends
