Wandering the wilderness in and around Corona

I don't know that you would call it hiking and it's not exactly wilderness, seldom are we out of view of man-made structures, but my family has taken to this as a favorite pastime on the weekends. We have found a few "trail heads" which is more like undeveloped land that comes up to a good place to park or within walking distance of our house and we just take whatever fire road or game trail we find.

My oldest is 9 and my youngest is 4, and we have gone up some pretty steep hills. At least once a trip I end up carrying the 4 year old over some section that is just too steep for him. They are both real troopers.

Sometimes my wife comes along, others she just enjoys some time alone at home. She is a stay at home mom and I understand how she deserves some time to relax without the 24X7 kids. When she does come, we end up pairing up and we each get one on one time with each of the kids. It's amazing what happens to the conversation when I am one on one out in the sticks with either of my kids.

We have hit all the spots we know about and are looking for new places to explore. Here are a couple of the places we have enjoyed. Looking for more.

      Enjoy!

Today we went out Skyline Drive Trails. The first 1/2 mile was paved..kind of lame, but after that it turned to a well maintained fire road with several narrower and more challenging trails branching off. We took a couple of those

it's great that you get out there with your family. the great outdoors is a place that many don't experience.

if you go south on McKinley until it ends, there are almost endless hills to explore. there is also the main divide trail if you have a 4x4. you can take it down to OC.

I'll take any random semi-remote outdoors that IS NOT any sort of "public park".

As long as you look like you are "just out for a hike" there shouldn't be any issues.

Only problem is a LUV hiking at night, and I'm a little worried someone might think I'm up to something, but at night there are even less people around.

Hiking at night in bad weather is even better. It ain't camping in bad weather.
Am I a good shot!?!, YEAH I'M A GOOD SHOT!....i just got bad aim
