Im with the cattle dog votes. Their coat is easy to deal with when the stickers and burrs come out.

Whatever you decide on, please strongly consider getting it from a shelter. There's so many abandoned dogs out there that would love nothing more than to be your sidekick, and the price can't be beat. My latest one cost me $63.50, and I couldn't have asked for a more loyal companion!

I'm a mountain biker and ride solo with a dog. They've always been Weimaraners and Rhodesian Ridgebacks. They can run forever, are smart and easy to train. They can get big. The biggest RR was 137 and the biggest Weimaraner was 110. Pass if you can't exercise them daily.

Any and all dogs, but I'll stick with my baby. Longhair Miniature Dachshund.

If you want a pure breed, get a pure breed. If you want a Shepsky or a Rottwador or whatever, then you should just go to the shelter.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I vote any of the aussie collie mixes or Queensland heeler . Got 1 aussie/collie mix hes has been the best dog ever. Great with horses sheep goats . Great bird dog . & then bred him with a catahula his son is not so smart

Whoa awesome dog. Looks like my mixbreed I had in Europe. They told me shep/pit but she grew long and leggy and clearly didn't have much pit in her. Sorry for the old bad-quality pic.

OP: I agree with the posters who said get a mix or a rescue. There's some great dogs out there. Mix of working or hunting breeds like shepard, boxer, aussie, lab. And do proper training.

If you have to have a pure: Airedale Terrier

                              You can rescue them.

If you know about dogs, what behaviors to look for and such, rescue Mutterhund for sure. PAX
