Danner Boots - Current Quality?
Collapse

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately Danner Boots and many other boot makers and manufacturers of various other quality "gear" items who have or had primary production in the USA have felt the "need" to not necessarily outsource production, but to create lower price point items that are produced offshore, primarily in China.
Personally, I tried to avoid ANYTHING made in China and it's getting more difficult to do so. However, in regard to Danner Boots, I ONLY buy USA production and have been extremely happy!!
Back to my original post, my only concern about purchasing a new pair of Danner Boots is in regards to any quality changes in the USA since they moved production facilities in 2010 within Portland to accommodate the production demands of a new DOD contract for the USMC and then subsequently be acquired by the Japanese in 2012. All my Danner Boots predate 2010, so was just seeing if anyone has significant experience with pre vs. post 2010 production Danner Boots...Thanks!Comment

Thanks for the post and thank you for your service!I bought a pair of the FTX Mojave from Amazon for use in Afghanistan. Wore them for about 2 months before a tear appeared. Emailed Danner and quickly received a new pair with only a few pictures as proof which I found acceptable. Extremely fast shipping and great customer service on their end.
The boots I received from them finished out that deployment as well as a second with no issues. Great boots, very comfortable, I think my only issue will be the laces, but I can live with that. I've seen no issues from my pair but everyone's experience may vary. If was to buy another pair of Danners I'd go direct to them just to avoid any issues like I had with the amazon purchase.
Okay, some questions...was the tear just a use issue or did it occur due to some type of defect? Either way it sounds like Danner really took care of you and I have also found their CS to be excellent.
What issue do you have with the laces? I just replaced the laces on my Danner Marine's, with Danner laces and see no issues so far.Comment

I really want a pair of the Ft. Lewis boots, but Danner does not make my size and will not build a custom pair, even for a premium price, however the Ft. Lewis is still a USA built boot!I have an older pair of Ft Lewis Danners boots, US made and still awesome after all these years. I was sad to see some, if not all were being made overseas.
My buddy and were in Cabelas a few months ago and he bought a pair of non US Danners. We were out the other day in the field and I asked how he liked his boots. He loves 'em. Said the are the most comfortable boots he's ever had. So it may not be all bad. But these are hunting boots, not issue.
But I'm the kind of guy that actually needs to see the boot and try it on before I buy. Hope this helps.Comment

WOW!!I gave up on Danners after two pairs of the American made boots, both were the Elk Hunter version. I wore out two pairs in three years, well one pair lost the soles they were fixed then lost again on one boot. Got a second pair and guess what? yep same **** different pair. Out of desperation for a 14 day Elk hunt I got a pair of Rocky boots and 6 years later I still use that pair of boots.
What years did you purchase the Elk Hunter's?Comment

Agreed....all of my Danner's rock too, just hoping nothing has degraded in regards to current production quality and materials. My Danner's for the fit and quality have been a bargain....now to be fair to White's, that is a totally custom hand made boot, made on totally custom last built just for your boots....still have not done that yet.Comment

Ive been wearing Danner APB boot, made in china, for the last 4 years.
I wish they still made the model, i have another pair at home, insulated for cold weather.
I also have a pair of the USA Acadias, and the fit sucks for me, the heel cups are way too big. Great quality though."I saved your life, AND brought you pizza" -- MeComment
