Best 10mm (G29) rounds for backpacking?

I bought a G36 (45acp) for backpacking a while back, but after a while I decided to get a G29 (10mm) to serve the same purpose. I've got lots of "practice" 10mm rounds, but most of them seem to pack less energy than a typical .40 or .45 round. I'm not necessarily looking for the highest energy round, I can find that with a google search. What I'm looking for is the best possible all-purpose round for backpacking in CA. For 2 or 4 legged predators, big and small, with the best penetration, and at the same time the least likeliness of over-penetration. Keep in mind that this is a short-barrel pistol (3.77in). Price doesn't matter, I will only fire a couple dozen rounds for practice occasionally, and hopefully only sitting in magazines unused the rest of the time. Thanks!
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

For factory loads I usually start with the Buffalo Bore loadings.

If you want to use it for back up for hunting they also have lead free loadings.

Underwood 180gr, Winchester Silvertips 175gr, Hornady XTP factory loadings in various grains and finally Doubletap (rip-off price however on that last one).

For the short barreled G29, and as a "hiking gun," it's not really going to matter what brand of HP 10mm bullet you're going to use. Just pick one and load up. It's not brain surgery.

The only dangerous "predators" against which you are likely ever to need to use a firearm in California are two-legged, so there is no round of particular benefit to backpackers.

Those are two requirements that are nearly mutually exclusive. Anything with decent enough penetration to affect a bear or deer is probably going to overpenetrate a human. That being said, if this is truly a woods gun, don't worry about overpenetration. There should be nobody else up there, or you need to find a quieter place to hike.

Like someone above said, you're far more likely to have to fight a tweeker than a black bear. For most of the year, your .45 is probably the better tool for the job. The only time I'd worry about 10MM is when bears are about to sack it in for the winter and deer rutting season, and then I'd carry the most stout FMJ or hardcast load you can handle. All other times, arm yourself for stopping people.
