what is Magic Length for RVs for CA State and/or National Parks?

I heard about 90% of campsites are limited to a quite short RV/trailer, but I can't find any good data on length or other details.

    Any help?

Last two RV salesmen I talked to were clueless and were probably selling timeshare Mexican condo deals last week.

It really depends on the park. Ive seen some limits as small as 18ft and others at 32ft.

The last time I checked, for National parks the magic number was 26ft!!! The camp sites in the older parks are really short. IF they have a newer park, you are still limited by the road - 30ft max length axle to kingpin (think bumper to bumper for a bumper pull) for the tighter roads.

IF you can get into the campsite, it is nice and close, but you will be in the wildlife (bear country) and most of the in the park campsites are limited hookups.

State parks are anyone's guess. I have had no problem getting my 30' 5th wheel into most state parks (CA, AZ, TN, OK, TX, MO). PA and VA were a little more challenging, because of the big trees and the tight roads within the particular parks I visited.

That's an interesting point. How do you take an RV into aggressive bear country? It's hard to remove all food or food smells from an actively used RV. Probably ought to leave it home, for some areas.

25 feet is considered the magic number on the RV forums.

I know I wouldn't want to tow my travel trailer up that grade to Sequoia National park. The hair pin turns are way too tight. If you want an awesome experience, look up Wishon RV Village Resort. They have full hookups in old growth forests that are 30 miles from Shaver Lake. Huge spaces in God's country. Three lakes within a 30 mile radius with more trails, streams, and things to do. Horseback riding, abandon logging camp, fishing, etc. There is the McKinley grove of Sequoias near by too.

Absolutely the best experience camping. Yosemite is about 100 miles away but it is a 3.5 hour drive.
