Heading to Pinecrest....anywhere to shoot?

I am going to be headed up to Pinecrest Lake near Strawberry in a month and although I know the place like the back of my hand when it comes to fishing, I am wondering if any of you have found a place that I can bring some guns and do some target shooting. I'd like to find somewhere within a 30-45 minute drive if possible. Are there any good spots that I'd be able to find?

Hoping one or two of you have a place for me to take my son for some forest plinking up there this year. Thanks in advance.

Pinecrest. That brings back a lot of old memories from when I was young.
Camping and land gaffing. PC has a special place in my heart.
Have not been there in 30 years but there should should be a few places to shoot. Have fun.

Is that the road right across the river by the Strawberry store? How far up does it go?

No, first road on right as you climb out of strawberry check a forest map to be sure.

Also, check with the rangerstaion for a active closure. Lot of restictions south toward the Clavey since the rim fire. PAX

Good call forgot about that, there's an old 4x4 trail up to eagle peak I used to run until tommy (RIP) pushed some logs in the way. The trails not on the current maps but I have an old map with it marked and used to go as far as I could. Beautiful camping along the niagra rim

Ran around that area and Long Valley too. The Bennet Juniper is up towards Relief Reservoir, but I'll bet it's getting pretty dusty already, with no snow pack to speak of. PAX
