Buy a quality brand in 38/357 or 44 special/44 mag. Then reload. 22lr is good for plinking and fun [I love the 22lr] 22 mag is pricey for the added velocity.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

Get a snub 357, practice with 38s, buy or load shot shells for snakes. You will be happy for many years.

Ruger Makes the SP101, a very easy to carry compact lightweight .38/.357 Mag 5 shot revolver. Comes in 2", 3"' and a nice 4" with fiber optic sights. Load first cylinder with shot shell for snakes and the next 4 with .357 Magnum for those two legged varmints you might encounter outback.

had a 44 mag years ago it was nice but they are bulky.Ended up selling it.

I been wanting to get another revolver and been leaning towards a 4 inch .357.For me it would be best of both worlds enough for back country hiking and still small enough.Just need to find the extra money to buy it.
