    Rv camping and fishing?

Guys I recently bought a 29' travel trailer. With the weather getting nicer the wife is buggin me to get out.

Can anyone suggest a good place to take the trailer camping and let the kids and wife fish?

Don't need any hook ups for the trailer. Some place in the forest would be great but really anything will do.

Oh by the way I'm in the central valley.

Environment:   Mountains, lakes, giant sequoias, mixed oak and conifer forests at over 6000' elevation.  Balch Park is completely contained within Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest ....

Balch Park was always fun growin up. Easy fishing for the kids, good hikes.

Clarks Fork past Strawberry has nice camping and great trout fishing. I also did a lot of camping at Stumpy Meadows res. Past Georgetown. You can fish the lake or drive a couple of miles and fish the Rubicon river.

                I'm not far from you.

A must-do RV trip is to Lake Almanor / Eagle Lake / Hat Creek / Lassen NP up north. Lots of camping, fishing, hiking up that way. Take at least a week if you really want to see the area ... that may still not be long enough.

There's a lot around here though, too. Kennedy Meadows, Silver Lake on 88, Hermit Valley up Hwy 4. Wouldn't advise pulling that much trailer over the summit of Hwy 4 though. It's one lane from Lake Alpine over to about 5 miles west of the 89 split and can be sketchy even in a big truck.

Huntington Lake out of Fresno is also very nice. Bass Lake ....

You have TONS of options within just a few hours.

We love the area in the eastern Sierra, specificly around the Devil's Postpile area. There are lots of campgrounds in that area. Plenty of good fishing in small lakes and streams, good hiking. Our particular favoirte place to take the tent trailer is Red's Meadow.

Real close is Don Padero, but go there before it gets hot.

I've always gone up HWY88. Bear River, Silver Lake, and Kaples. Great campgrounds all over there.

One of my favorite spots is the eastern side of the Sierras. Not much fishing there though.

Utica, Alpine, Pinecrest (Disneyland in summer). Just go east on 120, 4, 88, for the closets to Riverbank. PAX

http://rvparkreviews.com is our go to place to scope out RV Parks. As with any crowd sourced info, it varies.

I'll second Lassen, as well as the Eastern Sierras.

Shaver lake is s great spot and my all time favorite is Rock Creek Lake in the eastern sierra mountains. Going back there myself for a week. Good luck.

Don Pedro Moccasins Point is nice and close. Go before it gets hot as was already mentioned. We go to Dardanelle resort every summer. One of my favorite fishing camping trips. I only do full hook ups though.
