Anywhere good to backpack in, camp, and fish

I'm originally from CO looking for a good place I can backpack in for a day or two to a nice lake with decent fishing and just be alone. Have any suggestions? Seems like everywhere I turn in ca there is a road taking you to a lake with 30 people camping. I'd like to try someplace within 3 hrs of Sonoma county.
    Thanks

In CA, if there's a road, there are people.

Marble Mts, Trinity Alps, the Sierra right now. All a little more than 3 hrs from Sonoma. PAX

Get your pilot's license and fly somewhere outside of California, like Idaho. That's within 3 hours in a Cessna. Otherwise, you are out of luck.

              Not within 3hrs.

Try Hoover wilderness outside Bridgeport or desolation wilderness near Tahoe.

I realize that what you think you're asking for isn't unreasonable. But in reality it is. I think maybe you didn't know what you were getting when you moved to the most congested, populated state/region maybe in the US or Canada.

If you want to spend your days fishing alone in the mountains minutes from your high paying job and suburban life, you picked the wrong state.

Look up the Yolla Bolla wilderness. Roads are not allowed. Hiking in is the way to go many trail heads. You may encounter a horse rider or two but they want to be left alone just like you. Any wilderness area in California is without roads precluding most Californians. Where I live there are several places Antelope lake is a good place to start from and you can really be alone if you are hiking.

Lake Edison. About as remote as you'll get in Ca.
