Hopefully, one of you experts can help me to understand California law when it now comes to hiking or camping with a handgun.
Fairly recent California law changed the open carry rules but how does that affect us? Can we open carry (and loaded) on a hike in the woods where there are rattlesnake and cougar threats? I personally can't outrun a cougar, and probably can't outrun a rattler either, given my broken back. Am I entitled to carry a loaded pistol in a holster on my belt (openly) or must I have a LTC in order to protect myself and others with me?
We're talking about unincorporated areas of California, as well as National Forests.
TIA
