Streamlight Sidewinder review and photos-this is cool

This is one cool light. I recently got one-Midway had the best price, btw- and it is really neat. It's a "tactical" light designed to blind attackers, but it is a useful camping, hunting, driving, emergency, everyday light. Even my wife thinkis it's cool, so that says something.

For emergencies or outdoors, this is an excellent choice.

Anyway, here is the link to my review:http://www.ar15armory.com/forums/Str...ew-t25387.html

Pretty cool. Looks like $40 at The Sportsman's Guide.

You might want to consider additional retailers. A search of calguns will bring up specific threads, but in brief, SG is prominent among out of California retailers who are frightened to sell perfectly legal products into California.

I don't think SG deserves our business. YMMV.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Looks good. I like the clip flexibility, though a headband attachment would help a lot.

How intuitive are the multiple functions to use? I've been finding the multi-function flashlights I've been testing require explanations to people who aren't flashlight geeks, and I'm hunting for a good emergency kit light with long life and flexibility. This looks like a good candidate.

I wonder if I can pop a Q5 Cree LED in there??? Then it'd be a perfect all purpose flashlight!

I haven't done any solder level upgrades, but it's my understanding that you need the right driver circuitry for the Cree or Seoul upgrades. If this one uses an LED star - a driver board with the LED installed - they can be pretty straightforward to upgrade with some fine soldering skills.

A lot would depend on what the current LED is. If it's a Luxeon, it may be easier, as they're fairly similar to the Cree, but Cree puts out about 2x the lumens with the same drive current. If it's a lesser LED (seems likely, given the relatively low output), you'd be more likely to need to tweak the driver circuitry.
