I was tossing around the idea of adding a solar panel to top of my truck's tonneau cover to charge a 1-2 AGM or Deep cycle batteries to supplement the starting battery, run accessories when camping, location photo shoots running laptop, radios, and power for emergencies.
I know a lot of RV's run solar and thought it might be a good idea.
Im thinking
Single panel
1-2 batteries in front of the wheel wells in the truck bed.
sine wave inverter
something like this
Thoughts? Maybe a dual panel setup for redundancy? The only downside I can think of is the slight decrease in mpg for my truck with the extra weight.
