    Dutch Oven Chicken Pot-Pie

Have you ever had one of those times when you totally surprise yourself? Well this is one of those times. This pot-pie turned out extraordinarily good. If you have 1.5 hours I would give this a try. I never measure things when I cook so if you decide to make this just use common sense and taste it as you go along.

The key to not screwing this up is two fold. Dont over add the flour and dont cook too long with lid on or off. keep a close eye on it while cooking. Also after you add two tbl flour to the mix simmer for 5 minutes to see how she thickens up. Add more broth to thin if needed. You want it a bit thin when adding to the pie because it thickens as you cook. Also brown the bottom crust before you fill pie.

The recipe is on my blog so I can keep all my posts in one place.

          Excellent color on the crust.

We make pot pie at least once a year while camping. We use charcoal and the only differences with ingredients is that we fire up bacon for bacon bits, and use a bag of thawed frozen veggies.

Is that chicken pot pie sitting in an aluminum pie tin inside of the dutch oven?

Why not cook it in the dutch oven itself?

Too hard to get the pie out
Bottom crust will burn to hell
                        Messes the pot up
You have to eat all of it as it one stuck mess when finished

Yeah, if you cook it in the dutch oven, you really can't have a bottom crust. I mean, you can, but you won't get to eat any of it.
I love cooking with dutch ovens, and your chicken pot pie looks awesome.
