A bag for those staying away from the tac look

Just picked up a new BOB/Bail Out Bag

Did my monthly rounds at the local tac store and picked up a new bag by 5.11 that I think many of you are going to seriously get into

It's the new (to me at least) 5.11 Covrt 18 Backpack. It looks like a normal pack a civvy would have but is built with tactical class materials, zippers, and seems. It has the 5.11 Backup system which is a heavy duty velcro attachment system designed to carry a full size duty pistol covertly. It has both external water bottle pouches and is hydro bag capable. lots of great features for about $120.

Check out the website and video here http://www.511tactical.com/All-Produ...-Backpack.html

I use this for when i go on day trips (Bail-out-bag) or need to leave this house quickly (BOB).

I am still figuring out the load out given the existing items in my vehicles GHB kits.

Off the type of my head...

Pistol with spare mag and light mounted in the bag's backup system
    Tactical folder
    Light & headlamp
    Multi-tool
Docs, cash, PM, thumb drive in a dry bag (optional)
    Regional map
    Power bars
    Hydro bag (empty)
SS bottle beaner'd to the bag and in the pouch (full)
    Gloves
Sun glasses with strap in protective shell and cleaning cloth
Set of socks and undies in a baggie
Radio and phone charger with spare batts in a dry bag
    Notebook and pen
    Sharpie and Chalk pen
    50' 550 cord
    Lighter
    casualty blanket
    mini-FAK

That's a bit of stuff. Still need to think this over.

Great minds think alike ... Just picked up two of these packs for the same purpose, one for me and one for my wife.

I agree a nontactical bag is the way to go but the lack of a hip belt makes this a really poor choice. Check out an Osprey - much better choice.

          No hip belt IMO pos
It's not a ruck. His choice.

          (looks good to me)
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

            Bug Out Bag

Once again, if your goal is to be unobtrusive and tactically "off the grid", grow your waist line, wear a plaid, short sleeved dress shirt, black dress slacks, and carry one of these:

Trust me, people will give you a WIDE bearth. Notice that this model has the coveted side, mesh pockets!!!!!

I am on the fence about it not having a waste belt. But given the weight load I would put in it, I am not overly concerned.

The Osprey is a great civvy back and I have two. However, they are not built to the tac standards...box and bar stiching, zippers, abrasion resistance, etc. that I want in a BOB\Bail out bag. Also, Osprey likely does not have a purpose built concealed carry pocket now do they

                No no no.
You have to wear a t-shirt with Spiderman, pajama bottoms and flip flops.

@OP, I like that pack, great look. Grey Man accessory.

I got a Kelty map3500 and love it. Just over 100 on ebay and it fits everything and then some.

                    You may be right.

Personally, I was going for the Michael Douglas "Falling Down, Eginerd out of a job look", where I was forced to abandon my car and was lugging the backpack of my 4 year old daughter type of thing.

Your, "Despondent, slightly mentally ill, but still unpredictable and likely to soil myself" look is much better.

                    Thanks for the valuable input!!!!!!!

                    Carry on.......
