    Recommend a climbing harness

Going to add another element of danger to my Sierra adventuring.

    Recommend a good climbing harness.

You can make one yourself; it's easy. First, gather up the materials you'll need:

    27 large spatulas
    15 medium spatulas . . .

That's what I've got. Price at REI was reasonable and I like it A LOT better than turning a hunk of rope into a Swiss Seat. Granted I'm not actually climbing, just rappelling, so YMMV.

Yah, I agree. I think I'm a few spatulas short.

I'm thinking Black Diamond is the way to go.

Avoid Arc'Teryx.........they have no padding and are for minimalist climbing. They become painful to hang in for long periods of time.

Black Diamond or Petzl both make good harnesses, and i would get a comfort driven one over a minimalist design any day. I personally like and wear the Petzl Corax. It has adjustable leg loops and can fit almost anyone so you dont need different harnesses for everyone.

I've got allot of Petzl products and am very impressed with the quality.

I think I'll focus on Petzl or Black Diamond.

One that fits you comfortably. Try them on. Move around for a while. Hang on them a while in the store. See if any pressure points develop.

I happen to like Metolius, but Black Diamond, Petzl and others make quality gear.

I agree with Cnynrat, go to a Sports Store that carries Climbing Gear and try it out. Make sure it fits comfortably, a set with adjustable leg loops is ideal. I'm happy my BlackDiamond. Good Luck and Climb On!

"Back in the day" (whatever that means) I did a ton of rock climbing. Go to REI, try on everything... then find someplace you can actually hang in a harness (gym with climbing wall??). A harness can be as comfy as your favorite jammies... right up until you fall

                      That's my .02

6-8 feet of rope. All you need for a harness
