    Prepping = Peace of Mind..

Have to say prepping eases the mind , and if nothing ever happens great , but if it does knowing you have provisions is pretty sweet.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for sharing there information and resources. I've learned a ton...

Yep. It's like a teddy bear for grown children...but with camping gear, guns, and knives. I love my little bear

Best of all it's nice to not be reliant on the govt to come save you..

I find it conforting to know that I have what I need to keep the family safe, warm , and alive for about a month before I'll need to go to plan B.
I think local CalGun Prep meet and greets would be a great idea and fun to toss ideas around.
Your always going to learn or hear new ideas.

Unfortunately many millions will do just that and cry when they don't come.

So true. People laugh at me for my prep kit. I know many that don't have very basic items like extra batteries or a lighter. Never mind spare water, canned food, the means to cook. A lot of people are going to be SOL.
At the vey least have the basics with some camping equipment. -g

Anyone in this country who looked at what happened after Katrina and still doesn't feel the need to be prepared is an idiot. Do you want to be the person who is prepared an has a plan to get out before the SHTF or do you want to be the one getting robbed and/or raped in the Superdome, relying on FEMA for everything? Doesn't seem like a tough choice for me. People pay thousands a year for life insurance, car insurance, flood insurance, fire insurance, earthquake insurance, etc, etc, but won't shell out $500 to get together the basic necessities to make sure your family is taken care of for a month in case of an emergency. I really just don't get that.

Lots of people "don't pay attention".. they figure "hey, I pay my taxes, the govt will swoop in and save me is XYZ happens"..

So when the mega earthquake hits they will be sitting in front of thier rubble waiting for the truck to show up with food/water/shelter..

Also, many people have the "that will never happen" mentality, or they arn't foward thinkers. I think some of our friends think I'm loopy for having 500 gallons of water stored. If nothing ever goes sideways then maybe they are right, but for the $250 I have invested in storing that water it gives me great piece of mind.

"Prepping" is the justification to buy **** you don't really need but want. So I love prepping.

And even more sad is that those who don't bother to prepare will not only cry and blame the gov when they are inevitably disappointed, but they will cry and blame those who did prepare as well.

For some it is only natural to want to prepare, to protect and defend our family and home. It is quite literally in our DNA.

For others "When men get too comfortable and lead too luxurious lives, there is always a danger lest the softness eat like an acid into their manliness of fiber" Theodore Roosevelt.

From one of our members signatures and a part of the same quote:

"Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Theodore Roosevelt.
"In the end people ARE AS THEY CHOOSE TO BE. It is no one else's fault but theirs. Just because you don't like the choices available does not abdicate the inherent responsibility for your choices." - meaty-btz

                            Well stated!

I hope nothing ever happens but will always prepare just in case.

Better to have it and not need it than the other way around.. Personally I hope I never need it...

I was talking to my neighbor and I've been convincing him to at least have SOME preps.. he says "Well you would help me out, right?" and I explained to him that (in a huge disaster) that giving him two weeks worth of food is really more than that.. in a big disaster what he's really asking me to give him is two weeks of my life.. I think he got that it's not just a bucket of food or pail of water.. it's life.

Then I told him if he tries to take my food I'll shoot him and feed him to my dogs.. lol.. I think he's finally coming around that it's only smart to have some basic supplies.
