Asian markets save a TON of cash on food supplies, canning food etc (pics)

When my wife asked if we could "can" up some salsa we jumped in the car and headed over to our favorite asian store for the super cheap produce. I figured I would snap a couple blurry pictures with my phone camera to show just how badly we are getting ripped off at the grocery store.

The prices at the Asian store can be 50-2000% cheaper. Just one item that we needed we save $25 dollars. Tomatoes at the Asian store were $4.99/flat case of Vine tomatoes. The same tomatoes at the normal grocery store are $3.50/lb. We bought 11lbs so our purchase would have been $38.50 for tomatoes.

    On to the pictures...

Giant flats of strawberries (4lbs ?)

My girlfriend and me like going to Mom's, or Manilla Oriental Market. Store full of awesomeness, I always buy some random packaged thing and try to figure out what it is. LoL

Nope just the normal stuff I recognize. They had these fruit (I think) that were huge with spikes all over them. Like a water melon and a porcupine mated or something.

They sell live abalone too, we bought some last time and cooked them up. Nothing like fresh abalone cooked in crackers and butter.

It was probably Durian. Be warned if you decide to buy one and eat it....

It's a fruit. But when you cut it open it's got this very fowl smell, and the taste is suppose to be very very very unique. I've never been able to get past the smell so I don't know first hand how it taste.

You should try visiting 99Ranch Market if you can. There are quite a few of them in So Cal.
