OK I don't understand prepping for the "End of the World"? I mean if all the planets are aligning and were all going to be sucked into a big black void, why prepare? That scenario pretty much means were all going to die and hell why prep for it? Go to a casino and play the max bet on every single machine in the place, or give all your money to some homeless dude. Have a huge party or buy that dream sports car!

Now if were talking about being prepared for disasters, SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, or zombies, then by all means I'm right there with ya. But if I knew the world was ending for sure, I would be racking up the credit cards, selling my house for a $1, and live in a teepee for the end of days in some remote area where it was beautiful!

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

If the mayans actually foretold the end of the world, I seriously doubt canned goods and water bottles are going to make much of a difference.

Hey NASA has said that the sun will enter a phase of high solar flare activity next year. Maybe they are preparing for an EMP SHTF-type scenario.

No EMP, but it does tend to get posters to repeat themselves.

I beleive anything can happen. Even if nothing happens Dec. 21 2012, people will still happen. I beleive there will be riots and looting and things of that nature weeks before Dec. 21. Some people are just plain STUPID.

Ya know, I sincerely believe that being prepared for a SHTF situation (big EQ etc) is very realistic but if the world is truly ending we're all screwed!

I don't know about Dec 2012. But I do know I've seen a bunch of interesting things & been around a bunch of interesting people in my life. Most notably a man who was cured of cancer (with before and after chest x-rays to prove) in an instant and who, in later years lived with stage 4 lung cancer for years, not months. The underlying gift/ torture was the ability to see things...sometimes things he did not want to see.

I'm not saying stuff is coming in Dec 2012. I don't believe it is. But something is coming down the line...something big....& sooner (years) than later (decades).
And it will find us. Better to be prepped than not.

Now don't get me wrong I do believe in being prepared for the things I could due something about, but what part of END OF THE WORLD don't somepeople understand? Does this view make me less of a survivalist?

I have a really hard time believing the Mayan end-of-world prophecy because if they were capable of accurately predicting THAT, they should've also seen their OWN annhilation coming, and taken steps to prevent that... They could've easily kicked the spaniards back into the ocean.

And we'd be dealing with Mayan illegal immigrants today instead of Mexican ones.
