It handles wind well. It has plenty of anchor points which is nice since it is not freestanding. The fly also has a few sewn-in tabs where you can attach guy lines and secure it even more. I'm 5-9 and fit in it just fine. It may get cramped for someone 6ft+. The tent has plenty of ventilation, so condensation has never been an issue for me.

I've only used this tent when I expect nasty weather. Otherwise I do not use a tent or I'll use a flat 8x10 tarp. When I think warmth...I think sleeping bag...all the tent does is keep heavy rain and high winds off of me. Others may disagree...

You're a fireman, so you qualify for a bunch of pro-deals. Check out promotive.com and outdoorprolink.com to get tents at cost from lots of big brands...

I've got 2 Solitares I picked up with other gear. I'd sell you one that's been used once for fifty bucks plus ship. I've been using Peak 1 Cobra until recently. Have an extra Cobra for the same price. Similar to Spitfire but no second pole. Billed as a 2 man but it's snug for 2. The MSR Hubba is nice but buck$. I see you're in Roseville, I'm in Ripon but have a friend from Elk Grove that you could hook up with if your interested in the either. I'll be seeing him this week end. Or trade for ammo or ? PM if you got something. PAX

The only downside to those types of tents is the need to stake it down. If your backpacking in rocky areas you may not be able to set up your tent properly.

Part of the reason why I went with a 2 person tent. It weighs .3lbs more and gives me room to store my pack if I needed it in bad enough weather.
