    Tactical Laptop Bag

Just got this new RUSH Messenger Bag from 5.11 Tactical--Love, love, love it. It wasn't easy finding one to accomodate my 17" MacBook; this one does and has plenty of room for other stuff. Plenty of MOLLE webbing to add pouches (I had some Condor pouches that I added), and expandable pockets with webbing on the sides for water bottles, or whatever else you wanna put in there. Tons of internal pockets and dividers too, and a dedicated internal padded laptop sleeve.

Solid bag. Thumbs up. Here she is, all decked out:

The pouches from L to R are:
    1. Condor MA26 Gadget Pouch (it was originally for my laptop ac adaptor and various cords, but there was plenty of room inside the messenger bag itself, so I turned it into a toiletry kit)
    2. Condor MA16 Pocket Pouch with US Flag (for Pens, Notebook, utility blade)
    3. Condor MA32 Single Pistol Mag Pouch (for Small SureFire)
    4. Condor MA28 Single Flashbang Pouch (for small scissors & SOG PowerAssist)

looks cool. But how protected is the laptop? I ask because if it allows weight to be put on the laptop at all, it will push the screen into the keys and damage the screen, or even break the screen.
I always keep a protective barrier between my keys and screen everytime I close my laptop, and I have to take great care not to allow weight onto the bag when transporting.

That's the case no matter what bag you have... the bag itself can do nothing to protect the screen from the keys. That's up to you and what you carry. But, this bag does have a dedicated padded laptop pocket, along with a hook and loop strap that keeps this in place. I had to add a little length to it, because it wasn't long enough to strap across. Also, it's messenger style, and the laptop is carried in an upright position, so it's not load-bearing.

But, I'm always extra cautious, and I too always put a protective insert between the keys and screen, especially because the MacBooks are glass. I also have my laptop in the Speck see-through soft-touch hard shell case, and then when it's time to pack up, I put my laptop in a zippered neoprene sleeve (manufactured by InCase) for triple protection.

I feel confident that I could drop this thing when all packed up, and the laptop would be unscathed.
