Review HV Farms TVP ham and 16 bean mix

Besides the fact that this takes forever to cook the taste is good. I used 2 cups of raw beans soaked overnight. I was aiming for a 2 person meal and ended up with a 4-5 person meal. For the final version I will only use 1 cup of raw beans.

Final recipe would be as follows:

    1 c beans
    1/8th c onions dry
    1/4 c TVP ham
    1tbsp garlic
    1 tsp bullion powder
    1/4 c freeze dried veggies
    1tsp pepper
    1tbsp sage
(dont add salt till the end as the TVP ham leaches salt into the mix)
Simmer (dont boil) until beans are where you like them (hours)

Great. Thanks for the recipe. What do you think of the TVP products? Are they a good replacement for meat, or should I try and spring for the real stuff?

Also, do you have a review on the HV milk substitute? I'm looking for dried non fat milk in #10 cans for storage. I know the LDS cannery is an option, but I wanted to know my other options. Is the HV stuff as good as milk? Or should I look into getting the real deal?

BTW I'm sure everyone knows this, but if you go to the honeyville store in rancho, the prices are MUCH cheaper than online. For example, 50lbs of wheat online is like $44, but in the store, its under $20. #10 cans are usually $2-4 cheaper as well. The first time I ordered form HV I bought 100lbs of wheat and spend $100. Now I drive there and get 250lbs of wheat for the same price.
I've been there 3 times in the last 3 weeks

Yeah the HV store is like a bad crack habit. Spent a ton of money there.

Looks good PC, not to get too off topic but has anyone else tried the strawberry lemonade they sell? My wife loves it so much I get to go shopping at HV at least twice a month

I hate you all Every time PC does a review its like being poked with a sharp stick. I'm going to take a road trip to HV before the end of summer. Should be about a 2 1/2 hour drive , not to bad
