I think this one of the parks to be closed this summer.

        Henry Coe State Park experiences

Took a 3 day trip through Coe many years ago, but have day hiked there several times since (I used to live in Morgan Hill). There are LOTS of Mountain Lions, deer, tics, and other wildlife. There are also tarantulas in the fall (very cool, and they even used to have a festival at the park).

If you go, take plenty of water and sunscreen. I'd go in the fall rather than the summer. Also, be prepared to remove tics if needed. On mytrip 3 of 4 hikers had ticks removed.

Over 25 years ago (gasp, I shudder at the way time flies) I used to go w/ scouts backpacking there about once a year. It can be very hot, spring has a great wildflower appearance.

i back packed there for three days a couple of years ago, bring alot of water in summer because some of their water refill spots are stagnate pools with rotting vegetation in them with methane bubbles popping up. other than that it was hot and you climb alot of elevation

I day hike there. Summer is very hot. The terrain is very steep. Most of the fire roads climb and drop about 1000ft per mile. It's a cool park. not crowded. (probably why they are gonna close it)
