A place to go camping and shooting?

When it cools down this summer is there anywhere in SoCal where you can camp and shoot? I live in the 626/909 area.. Thanks!

I see your from the 909 so you should be close to the 15 freeway. One of the coolest and most beautiful places is a little road out in Barstow called Copper City Road. If you look up Copper City Road in Barstow, CA on google maps it will show you exactly where to go.
There and literally hundreds of thousands of acres to shoot, dirtbike, hunt or just camp and enjoy the beautiful pristine desert. I'm in long beach and it usually takes me 2 hours to get there.
When driving down copper city you'll see a wooden sign with signs pointing in every direction, like the one in M.A.S.H. make a right at the sign, then at the forks stick left and loop around the mountain then you will come to some old abandoned homestead cabins where you can post up for the night, Or just stay on copper city and stop at one of the million good shooting/camping spots under a tree.

Awesome that is exactly what I am looking to do! Are there designated shooting spots? Or just make sure you have a good backdrop? Does it get busy? This sounds perfect!

Well there is some private land but it is almost all marked off with signs or a fence, other than that it's the middle of butt-f*** nowhere and you can do whatever you want. There used to be lots of dirt bikers but they got the boot from the BLM for making their own trails and messing up the vegetation, but a few families of bikers still come. Other than that you are almost always alone, once in a blue moon you might run into another shooter, dirt biker or miner. We usually drive down copper city for 5-10 miles and find any random turnoff and post up under a tree and shoot into any nearby hill, at some spots you can shoot up to 500 yards.
P.S. LOTS of jack rabbits, dove and quail to hunt!!

You might want to take a look at these sites:

Choose a memorable domain name. Professional, friendly customer support. Start using your domain right away.

Remember, just because a vast open area "appears" to be "deserted" and a perfect place to shoot, that area may be "restricted" for one reason or another. Quite often, there are BLM areas that are closed for shooting/off-roading, due to the fire hazard. Also, the BLM closed many shooting areas for awhile due to having found some desert tortoises that had been shot.

Also remember to clean up your camping spot before leaving! It may be "our" land to use and enjoy, but "they" might close it down if it gets abused!

I am a big person on if you camp it in, bag it out! I hate people that just leave all their crap all over.

That sounds like a nice little place to checkout
Ill have to look into that a little closer in the morning. Im just a little tired of the 2 or 3 places - BLM - that I go to here in Diego... I dont care much for ranges either...
A nice camp / shoot where no one is around is right up my alley

Nope, it's just hot where I live, and I hate working on my truck in the heat.
