Why asking another SHTF question that has been hashed out before, is okay

On occasion I see the "What if in SHTF" thread.
    Then someone posts the

    Or

Sometimes opinions and circumstances change. Reading through 50 pages of responses can be a real pain in the butt.
Upon seeing an old thread, some members will post the:

In essence, you can't win and can't please everyone.

Over time, my view on SHTF has changed based on the economy, my life situation and my knowledge, so I appreciate new repeat threads.

    New posts keeps it fresh.

Although, I would encourage trying to develop a new spin to a problem that has been discussed in depth.

    That is all....
    Carry on.

    I agree!

It's a fairly new topic (SHTF/preparedness) to me, and I enjoy reading about it... Even if it's been covered before.

I think you mean "isn't OK" in your thread title.

Every now and then a thread has to end up duped.

Totally agree! I love seeing different peoples opinions and ideas. It's nice to have old topics re-hashed every couple of months or weeks.

I agree to some extent. It's a real hassle to read through literally hundreds of often times old posts. In those cases I think it's perfectly fine to start a new thread, although you may want to include a link to the old one as a courtesy.

I'm happy that BOB loadouts got revisited recently, since I've got a few items I need to add to my shopping list now. Though I'm still trying to find a good modular pack. Basically, I want a comfortable, non-tactical looking pack for urban type 3-day stuff (i.e., major earthquake but I at least have somewhere with a roof, even if there is no food or clean water) and an extra section I can add to it for wilderness situations.

                    I have to disagree.

YMMV, but personally I would rather read 100 different opinions in one thread than 100 threads with one opinion.

It seems like whenever they come up a couple of posts can be found quite quickly:

                      1) Why another SHTF thread?

                      2) S isn't GTHT so stop worrying about it.

To be honest I watch the news routinely and read articles a lot. I don't think an economic collapse into a depression will be at "SHTF" levels of the book the Patriot. A lot of communities will prevail over violence and keep their peace - I think the one I live in has a good chance. That said I'm convinced "SHTF" only if we are attacked. Which if Obama keeps invading other countries eventually one is going to say "enough" and fight back - here.
