    knife legality

Ok, this is my first post here and it is cause i am a new california resident. I knew coming here the knife and gun laws are a bit restrictive and i really wanna be sure about something... i am thinking about getting the ontario knife company gen ii sp50 knife. i will put a link at the bottom just to give people a pic and reference to it. Now i know that you are supposed to wear it on your waist if it is a fixed blade knife, i am fine with that. i will mostly wear it while out hiking and stuff and as far as i know my local doesn't have any extra state restrictions. that being said i would like to know if it is california legal since if i buy it online they won't check them it is up to me. also occationally i will be wearing it as every day carry and want to know if you guys think about that specific. i know i will end up having more than 1 talk with random police if i wear it. but i have read what to say and i am not carrying it for self defense, will i use it, yes, my purpose no. i know it is larger than a usual EDC knife. reason i am thinking is because it is a fine blade no serration, so easy enough to maintain for long periods of time, easy to sharpen, durable blade, thick, blade, and i have no need for other fancy knife utilites like seration or anything like that so it is the knife for me and i wanna know if it is legal to carry in CA sorry for the block of text.

Thats a BIG knife---I ain't a lawyer or LE so I can't give legal advice, but it seems to me that if you are in the woods, camping etc. this might be the kind of knife you might open carry---but if you're thinking about a EDC in city areas, this ain't gonna work! Another thing, many locals have their own knife laws and what is OK in one place could end you up in the slammer just a few miles down the road. Good luck with that.

Fixed Blade knives must be open carried in California. State Law.

You must also check your COUNTY CODE & MUNICIPAL CODE.

      For example...

LA COUNTY CODE 13.62.020 makes open carry illegal.

LA MUNI CODE 55.10 makes open carry illegal.

The exemption to BOTH those codes says that you may open carry while involved in recreation or religious practice.

Remember...you always have state code, county code, and muni code...

      Check all three.
