I am charging my radio battery after 1 month of sitting and its been charging for 1.5hrs now. Seems a huge drain for sitting off for one month. Maybe we should store them with the battery not installed?

Anyone tested the Wouxun radio for parasitic drain?

PC, I never take chances with Parasitic drain on important items I carry/store. I always cut a rounded tab of clear heavy plastic (from scrap retail packaging) and insert it between the battery and the contact to prevent accidental discharge or parasitic drain. I can quickly open and remove this tab on anything I have, even in total darkness and as the need arises.
Since I have started doing this, I have saved multiple battery discharges due to accidental activations..... flashlights, radios, etc. and have yet found any of my equipment discharged when needed since starting this practice, even on items I KNOW have a parasitic drain problem.
So, by doing this, I have mooted your question, as it applies to me, anyway. You might try it !Originally posted by Southwest ChuckI am humbled at the efforts of so many Patriots on this and other forums, CGN, CGF, SAF, NRA, CRPF, MDS etc. etc. I am lucky to be living in an era of a new awakening of the American Spirit; One that embraces it's Constitutional History, and it's Founding Fathers vision, especially in an age of such uncertainty that we are now in.Originally posted by tobyGo cheap you will always have cheap and if you sell, it will sell for even cheaper. My neighbor, the HAM, reports his Wouxun he tinkers with has a fair amount of parasitic drain, and is +1 on the heavy plastic tab when not in use.sigpicComment
