    Wilderness/Remote Medicine

Any stories in regards to providing treatment or receiving treatment when an hour or more outside definitive medical care?

--Most common I've seen is your basic scrape or cut not taken care of properly...starts getting red, warm to the touch, and next thing you know your fellow hiker has a temp. Or poor field sanitation and someone gets the runs...setup a hand washing station (down hill, down stream, down wind, just like the bathrooms), dig a hole throw some gravel in it, hang some soap (hanging over the hole in a sock, stocking, roller gauze etc), setup a bladder above the hole, and make sure everyone at camp walks through the hand washing station.

Are you prepared?: It's not just for the wilderness. It's improvised medicine when medical care is an hour or more away. We go over medical kits designed for your carry ie in your BOB! Don't wait until it's too late.

-An old Army Sergeant once said "High speed is not rappelling out of helicopters and kicking in doors, it's doing the small things over and over."

Is it okay to advertise for services such as this? Doesn't this belong in the vendor forum?

I've been asked that a few times. Maybe on our next Mojave trip.
