cabelas dehydrator

Looking at the big cabelas commercial dehydrator. The reviews on the site are pretty good but I was wondering if anyone on the board has used one? Pretty large and looks good to process a ton of food. Input? Alternatives?

That is an excellent idea. I have been looking into getting a dehydrator. Time to go to Home Depot, thanks for the info.

Im thinking blowing pollen, mold, dirt, smog through your food for hours is not a good idea.

You're blowing air that is filtered. I realize that a standard a/c filter only gets down to so many microns, but how is the air in a commercial dehydrator filtered?

And...you're breathing that pollen, mold, dirt, and smog before that air gets blown through it anyway.

And....humans have been dehydrating food for thousands of years - long before commercial dehydrators were invented or electricity was discovered.

I like the "If possible don't use fiberglass filters..." yeah right, nothing like some tasty fiberglass strands imbedded in my jerky to clear out my colon!
