Full disclosure: I am admittedly opposed to additives and preservatives in our food. I get really bad headaches from preservatives and "some" additives but not all. This product does not have preservatives but it does have additives, none of which gave me a headache. I always search for the product without those nasty ingredients, though sometimes we are forced to use them.

I thought I would start reviewing some of the food I purchased from HV. I have been looking high and low for a Mac n Cheese sauce mix. I did not want to buy 300 boxes of Mac n Cheese from the grocery store. Costco only sells orange cheese mac n cheese that has a horrible taste to it. I think I finally found a white cheese powder that will work well in home made Mac n Cheese.
I bought a giant bag of macaroni noodles along with dried hamburger, powdered butter and powdered milk. The way I cook the noodles to save fuel is the following. I heat the water to boiling and dump the noodles and F.D. hamburger in with a touch of oil. I stir the noodles for about 15 seconds. Then I cover the noodles for 15 minutes with the heat off. After 15 minutes I drain off water. Add powder butter, powder milk, salt, pepper, onion powder and a touch of water. Stir well and enjoy. I am a big fan of Mac n Cheese having been raised on it.
Taste = mild cheesy white sauce, very subtle, needs added spices for my taste buds.
I like this product and will buy more the next time I am out there.
4lbs cost $27 (not avail. online)

On edit Im adding a review for the Sausage flavor TVP. I wanted a meat source to add to my powdered eggs. I also bought dehydrated bell peppers and dehydrated cheese. I whipped up an omelet and added my TVP. The taste of the TVP was much like sausage and the texture was like sausage bits. About the only difference was that it had a hint of sweet flavor to it. Once I added the sausage to the egg and added cheese it blended in quite well. I wish I would have added mushrooms and bell peppers to round off the flavor. On a scale of 1-5 I give this TVP a 3+. The only reason I am holding back a bit is because of the hint of sweet flavor it had. So basically is was a mildly spicy, sausage tasting, sausage texture TVP with a little bit of a sweet flavor.

I swear it tasted good. If you are a Mac n Cheese person you will like it. I was going to try some of the freeze dried cheddar too but its expensive and I did not want to crack open a can.
