    Ziplock Mylar Bags???

I saw some big ziplock mylar bags the other day for 5 gal buckets. Anyone have any experience with these? Looks like there is 1.5"-2" of mylar that could be sealed with an iron if necessary after the ziplock portion.

Seems like most of you are using the standard mylar bags?

I picked up some of the 1 and 2 gallon ziplock mylar bags from USA Emergency Supply. Just measured, and they've got 7/8" (1 gal) and 1" (2gal) after the ziplock portion.

The ziplock seems to do the job. The zip seals much easier than plastic supermarket ziplock bags, feels pretty secure. If you kept them loose I might double-seal it, but inside a bucket you should be fine.

Is Mylar the preferred long term storage of foods? Or I'd it for water proofing something else?
