    2 burner camp stove

I hit Big 5 today to check their price on the 2 burner propane camp stoves. Cabelas has them for $90 on sale, so with 2 day shipping I was looking at $113. I used one of these last summer and they are outstanding, convenient and plenty of heat so I wanted to price them before I go camping next weekend. On my own I take a small bbq and my MSR whisperlite but there's no way to cook for more than one with that.

Anyway, Big 5 has them for $80 right now. I was pleased because I didn't see it in their on-line ads. I got that and a $40 12" dutch oven for $116 using their current 10% off total purchase coupon.

Propane tanks are cheaper to fill the more you're filling, at least where I go. They charge $X.XX per gallon with a minimum charge of say $X.XX + $Y to make sure they make enough money for the hassle of doing the work. There is no additional charge for extra tanks, you just pay the straight per gallon price.

I currently have 3 cans and take them all in when the last one is about half empty. I think I'm going to be adding at least one more tank and then keeping one full in reserve at all times. It's expensive, but you really do get a lot of cooking out of each can.

Whatever you do, unless you need a new tank, don't use any of the Blue Rhino or whatever tank exchanges. The tanks are never very full and you're paying a massive premium for the convenience. If you have a tank that's close to or past it's inspection date or that's kind of hammered the exchanges can be a good way to get rid of it, just make sure to check your new one for rust/dents and a good inspection date.
