    2 good deals at Costco this week

    I was at Costco stocking up on food and noticed these MRE "type" meals. The cost is very low at $1.35ea. Along with the fake MRE's I bought some Solid white Albacore on sale as well. The tuna was on sale for 8 cans $6.99. If you mix in a can of tuna into the fake MRE's you have a complete meal ready to eat for $2.00. I also picked up 10 cases of 15 per case Kirkwood Mac-N-Cheese at $7.99 per case

    The sudo MRE's at 10oz ea and packed 6 per case (no refrigeration needed).

      MRE type food
      Cal=330
      Shelf=1.5yrs

      Tuna
      shelf=4yrs
      cal=66

      So 400 calories and a bunch of protein, fat and carbs. Maybe mix in 2 granola bars, some fruit drink mix, a bag of M&m's, some crackers and you have a complete MRE for $3.00

        They are hiding the fact that they are using fictionalized MSG.

        These meals also have disodium guanylate and disodium inosinate.

        In addition to - Ferrous Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Alginate, Datem, Maltodextrin, Sodium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide and Tartaric Acid.

          Yeah they do BUT I DIDN'T SAY THEY WERE ORGANIC WITH NO PRESERVATIVES and hand made by virgin maidens did I like in the other thread you quote from? Most of those additives are Vitamins, minerals and --->SALT with a few bad things for people like me.

          Some people are NOT affected by those additives, like my wife, and some are, like me, I get very bad migraines.

          If you are going to attempt to flame someone please do your homework. And again in case you didnt read it I never said (LIKE THE OTHER POSTER YOU QUOTE FROM) that this product was additive free organic did I?

          The guy you quote was posting a link to a private ordering page for multi level marketing. Its probably his page so he is violating the forum rules by selling a product and pretending to be helping us with survival food info.

          Heres the other guys thread. I will mark the part that was BS.

          "Default Anyone Stocking Up On Food
          I'm always looking to add more long term storage food for my supplies and came across this interesting company called eFoods. In case you are not familiar with who or what eFoods is……they promote themselves as “just the worlds finest Food Storage“.

          Additionally - there are No Artificial Ingredients or colors, No MSG, not freeze dried, and in most cases all organic. 15-25 year shelf life. 12 free servings, – just pay shipping. Company is 28 years old. Constantly improving, and now you can become a distributer in a home business opportunity. Buy your food from you. Serve, Save, Share.

          I recently tried there food and was quite impressed. Not only did it smell good but it also tasted good. They are giving away 12 free serving samples (you pay for shipping) by going to there website and taking a video tour of there product.

          Here is a link http://safetyfood.myefoods.com/?pcid=62013 Just another great food storage option to pass on to fellow calgunners. "

                I saw that Efoods website and the first thing I thought of was Amway Survival Foods should have been what the name was. Didnt fall for the $30.00 shipping costs.

                  Honestly for a SHTF situation, does it even matter if it has "bad stuff" like preservatives and such? Call me crazy but I'd rather my food be well preserved and edible, rather than green and unedible when the time comes to stuff it down my throat...

                  That whole organic/healthfood bandwagon fiasco is out of control, not to mention waaaayyyy overpriced for what you get. Anything with labels that say "Healthy, Less, Lower, Fewer, or Organic" costs twice as much, tastes twice as bad, and contains half the ammount of product than their "regular" counterpart. No thanks, just buy the regular crap and eat half the portion, save yourself some money...

                  On another note, I just ran across that canned roast beef (same size can as their canned chicken) at Costco, shelf life 2yrs. Pretty tasty. Another good canned protien option besides tuna and chicken...

                    thanks for sharing. the packaging shows what appears to be a tasty meal. the "no refrigeration needed" part is the most attractive part of the offering.

                      The only reason I said anything on the first post was the fact the OP said it was preservative free. The other OP's post was also a scam at multi-level-marketing. I get migraines from preservatives. I can tell you that the last thing you want to have when bugging out and in a fire fight is a migraine. By the way Fresh N Easy has Tuna with no preservatives and packed in olive oil. You can use the olive oil to mix the tuna as a mayonnaise sub.

                            Good buys. Heading to Costco tomorrow for the weekly 30 minute walk through.

                            All our food storage is regular food with a 1-5 year shelf life. We cycle through the food through the year to keep it fresh. Have a stash of MRE's only for bug out. Luckly or unluckly I have two teenagers and one college student at home to keep everything turned over rather quickly.

                            I have been hitting a different costco everyweek around Norcal for the last 6 weeks because my kids bball traveling. Really interesting the difference in price and items. Lots of Mountain House meals in the East and North Bay Stores.
