I spent about $75 in the Dollar Store today and came home with a LOAD of stuff to store away for the BDSO. They has 26.5oz cans of Del Monte spaghetti sauce for a buck each. I'll be stop'n by there on a regular basis.

i frequent the dollar tree that spaghetti sauce is good they also have black olives for $1
lemon concentrate, can make plenty of lemonade
the bar s hot dogs and sometimes buns
the bag of seasoned fries are great even though they are "shorts" that should have been tots
their 6 pack toster pastries are fine as god as pop tarts
and i like the 3 liter sodas,rootbeer,cola,orange,grape,fruitpunch
and the 8 pack of heavy duty aa batts are ok
funny thing i found the spagetti at big lots for 80 cents so i felt a tad ripped when i bought the spagetti noodles for $1
avoid their cheese slices as they are garbage -

The del monte pasta sauce rocks get some ground beef or take spicy italian sausauge out of casings and brown and mix in and its super delicioso. I also but some medical stuff there like baby generic oragel which is 4 bucks at walgreens and a buck there. Sometimes water goes 2 gal for a buck also, and sometimes canned veggies 3 for a dollarComment

99 cent stores are a great way to stock up on canned goods (soups, chilis, fruits, meats, pasta and other high-carb items) for a survival situation---also soap, candles, batteries (do not get the "super heavy duty" types---alkaline is better) and all sorts of useful stuff at small prices.Comment

My buddy's favorite camping supply store! Before each trip he would buy his pots & pans, food.... ect. from the 99 cent store. Done eating, no need for cleanup.... just toss out the dishes, utensils, pots & pans! Done & doneWTB: S&W 617 4" 10 shot Pre-LockComment

+1 for the Dollar Stores...not just for SHTF stuff but a lot of other things as well. My wife loves them for gift bags and wrapping paper that can cost up to $5 at Target. And like Fjold said (LOL) you don't have to get dressed up like you are going to Walmart!
Another cool place to check out if you happen to live in or near the SF Bay Area is a Japanese store called Daiso. You can literally spend hours there picking up all kinds of things on the cheap. Utensils, kitchen knives, tin boxes, plastic organizers (like the Plano stuff), stainless steel cups and bowls, tools, etc. Most items are $1.50.
If you are ever in the area you owe it to yourself to at least check out.Comment
