            Weak sauce. Get a brunton and measure width, height, dip and more:



            The downside is that even at half price (www.moontrail.com), it costs more than a glock. Sometimes you can snag a mil surplus version for not all that much. Then there are the chinese clones.

            At least the real Brunton is still made in the same american factory that has been making them since the start.

                      Uh....that's a Transit, which is a little more than a compass. I think the OP was trying to show field expedient ways of using your compass to measure.

                      If you want to get fancy bring a laser range finder and a laser distance measurer. Kinda defeats the purpose.....
