Any Socalers want to go in on Powdered Whole Eggs 50 LB

The price of canning our own powdered eggs is about $9 per can which is about $10 dollars cheaper than buying pre-canned eggs. I can borrow the Mormon canning machine (manual) we would just need a garage or clean indoor area. 50lb bags are $199 and it will fill 22 cans at 2.25lbs each or 90 eggs in each can. The cans will last 5-10 years.

    Anyone interested in this project?

    Price: $199.99
    Item Number: 777-205

    Quantity Amount
    4 to 9 $189.99
    10 to 50 $181.99

Honeyville's Powdered Whole Eggs, or Whole Dried Eggs are produced though a special process designed to provide a free flowing powder. Originally developed for use in the military, our whole egg powder, when blended with water, reconstitutes into a product similar to fresh whipped eggs. These reconstituted eggs may then be used as a direct substitute for fresh eggs. Our whole egg powder is non-perishable and requires no refrigeration and is ideal for camping, travel, and long-term food storage. This product may be stored for up to 12 months opened, and 5 to 10 years in airtight sealed cans.

    Reconstitution Instructions:

To reconstitute one large egg, mix 2 Tablespoons of powdered whole egg with 4 Tablespoons of water. Use for any recipe that calls for eggs. When using with other dry ingredients, it is not necessary to reconstitute egg. Simply add to other dry ingredients and increase water measurements in mixture to necessary amount.

    Storage:

Honeyville's Whole Dried Eggs can be stored up to 12 months in a cool, dry place.

Ingredients: Whole Eggs, less than 2% sodium silico aluminate (added as an anti-caking agent)

I'm in San Diego, so if we can make the logistics work out, I want to be included.

Where in SoCal? I'd be in for 4 cans if it's not too far and the price stays pretty close to the $9 mark you stated.

              I can do 3 or 4 cans.

Now if I recall, we canned maybe 75 cans in about a hour at the LDS center(give or take.)

If we go forward with this project, we might as well do some other items besides simply eggs. I know I have a few boxes of pancake mix I need canned.

Now, if we could get some cheese or even some additional types of protein (meat, etc) this would be perfect.

I am out until sometime Friday. PC, you have my #. Let's touch base and think this out if we proceed.

Agreed, canning a variety of things would be a good idea. Maybe not all at once, but maybe a monthly thing?

I'd be interested in 4 cans, if the date set is the day I have time off.

So you guys who are going to recan the powdered previously canned eggs... Why??

A little about eggs from personal experience.

Eggs will last forever if you just take the fresh egg and drop it in a jar of vegtable oil. The shells are porous and will admit air so the little future creature inside can breath. It is this air that spoils the egg. Deny the air and the egg will last forever. When I was a kid my mother stored them this way and we ate eggs that had been submerged in oil for 8 or more years... Im still here so I suppose it works.

That's what I was going to say. The Augason Farms stuff is $25 for two cans at Sam's Club:

I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.

It would be cool if we could find a company that we could do a group buy of maybe 5 items. Get everyone to buy in and have a #10 canning get together. I have an office near Anaheim Stadium with a warehouse if needed.
