Just like the Carter years without high interest rates and gas lines (not yet anyway). Nothing new.
You don't like the private Federal Reserve? see this:

America has problems. Show me a country that does not. We are children of our own makings, really. Americans have strength in the liberties earned by and granted to us by our fore-fathers; and the women who contributed greatly to their strength. No other nation on Earth bestows freedom and opportunity that Americans have, which is why people from all over the planet want to emigrate to the United States.
The survivalists posting here should be leaders in event of societal fractures, not whiney butts. Do what you can to be prepared to help those around you when tough times befall so that you can be part of the saving grace. Be prepared. Be vigilant and pray that your special skills were not called upon, in the event that you die of old age, before any cataclysmic event requiring their use occurs.
Prepare and encourage those around you, and follow after you, so that they will be self sufficient in their own right. Lead don’t question America’s strength. America suffers from an aging and shrinking population, as does Japan and China and every European nation. Without immigration our great country would suffer from a shrinking population. Live births per woman in the United States can not sustain a stable population. Government sponsored social security in every modern country is dependant upon an expanding population of young people to support the aged .
From chaos comes order and a different order is on the horizon; be part of it or run off to Utah and hide behind a rock.Comment

Lets hope nothing happens and things get better.
Ive always had a knack for sencing when something is wrong. It has saved me many times. Right now my hackels are standing straight up. I think when the economy is as crappy as it is, and we see friends, family losing jobs and struggling, along with all the bad news lately, one cannot help but be concerned about the future...Kalifornia is the worst. I seriously have NO idea what's going on excpet to say right now, things are far from OK...I am preparing for the worst, and trying to get rid of my debt and wanting to be more self-sufficent. Hope like hell I'm wrong...I do want things to get better, because I enjoy my life...but if things do go to ****...I wanna be ready.Comment

Ahh....that makes it okay then.
....YET.
Really? Do you survey them all? How do you know what their financial situation is? And what difference does that make anyway? Do you think it's wrong that people expect a return from the system they PAID into? Really?
Really? I drive a late model passenger car that gets 30mpg. The difference between $3 and $4 gasoline for me is $100 a month. Do you have that to throw around? Guess what that means when those big trucks pay mor for fuel - your food prices go up. It affects EVERYBODY. Europe also has socialized medicine and less taxes.
Do you follow commodities at all? Do you even do the grocery shopping for your family? Food prices have crept up anywhere from 20-80%. Wheat alone has DOUBLED. I don't know where you get your information, but it's seriously lacking.
World War II saved FDR's ***. You can thank him for the very entitlement programs that us hardworking people pay for so that lazy people get to live for free. FDR is the reason a president can only serve two terms.

I agree it's not a racial matter. I don't care what color someone is or where they are from. We have rules - follow them or go home. period.Illegal immigration to me is not a racial matter and I will maintain that. For some it is on either side of the issue, but border control and removal of illegals from within the borders is a core business the Fed always should have been doing. The vast majority (I think over 75%) of Americans are on the same page in desiring harder enforcement and are against amnesty. I don't see this as a powder keg, but it sure does sell a lot of MSM tickets.
I unfortunately DO see it as a powder keg, especially here in California. The problem is that we are overrun already. If the government actuallylocked down pur borders and started mass deportation we could have civil war on our hands. We have literally MILLIONS of illegals in the Los Angeles area alone. Now take into account their families and friends here.
Nothing will be done that doesn't include amnesty. There are too many that can turn on us, and guess what - they have lots of guns too. We passed the point of no return a LONG time ago.Originally posted by jonnyt16I know the safety nazis will kill me for this, but there's nothing like a mag dump of .223 tracer rounds at night out of your AR with a little bit of firewater in your system. Dream on. . . People don't resort to violence until they have nothing left to loose. (i.e. Libya, Egypt). The fact of the matter is, no matter HOW poor or HOW disenfranchised you feel here in America, you STILL have it better than most. No one in America is so poor and desperate that they will fight to overthrow the gov. (or even fight for peaceful political change btw). Every now and again we have a few crazies, that's it. No mass riots.
Hell even the Teaparty'ers I see at the rallies are usually on( r about to be on) Social Security- paid by the same overly large government they claim they don't want.
High gas prices - please we pay half of what Europe does, and it only hits those with the large (expensive) trucks and SUV's
High Food Prices - please - we in the US pay LESS than 8% of our household income on food. Food prices in the US have risen by only 2% in the previous year.
Gov. overspending. Didn't we scream at the Fed. to do SOMETHING to stop or ease the recession? All they can do is hire employees and spend money. (That's what FDR did in the 40's)"Gentlemen, you will permit me to put on my spectacles, for I have not only grown gray but almost blind in the service of my country."
