Better belt clip options for a Yaesu vx-6r?

Like the title says, I'm looking for better belt clips for my ham rig. Any suggestions? I'm afraid I will drop my rig one day in a most inopportune place.

    Thanks!

I don't have one, but check out the leather cases such as the SC-15 here.

There's a Yaesu option that I heard about when I took the exam. It's a belt clip for a button-style attachment to the back of the radio like the old cell phones that slid into it and locked, with a button release to lift it out. The Yaesu version is a little different (maybe better, maybe not), in that the button the screws onto the clip mount on the radio goes on in such a way that it will latch into the belt hanger, but to get it off, you have to rotate the radio (antenna pointing down) before you can pull it out of the clip. Looked very nice. I think it was called something like a "Clip-5" or something similar. I'm going to get one. Getting the belt clip on and off is a pain.

I always thought it had the same belt clip system as the VX-7r like pinwheels just described.

According to KL0PE, the VX-7r clip system is compatible.

        - Finally, the included belt clip looks all but useless, so I didn't even bother installing it. For such a rugged little radio, it's disappointing that Yaesu didn't spring for something more in keeping with the radio's design (such as the large spring clamp like is found on the VX-150). I highly recommend ditching the included clip and purchasing Yaesu's swivel clip which fits on the VX-6 perfectly (it comes standard with the VX-7 and VX-170). I know some don't like the swivel clip, but I've found it to be solid, secure, and well-designed.

Found it. It's called CLIP-14, and is standard on VX-7:

So is this the radio to have?

Seems like you would want a neck harness so its close and tight. Last thing you want is the radio falling off and getting lost while on the move.

There are two mike/speaker options with coiled cords - one is waterproof, and the other has a headphone jack built into it. You can clip it on a pocket, collar or epaulet. Although they're small, a VX-6 is in a solid metal chassis and is a bit heavier than you might think. Wouldn't want to get smacked in the mouth jumping off a rock with the radio swinging on a neckstrap.

What might even be better is a small tool belt. I got something like this for 8$ at OSH

I think I found the ideal solution to this problem, therefore I am necroposting.

I've been looking for an answer to this since before this thread was started. Now and then I search again and I keep hitting this thread. Today I found a clue when looking at the latest revision of the VX-6R manual. It showed a different clip -- something plain with no swivel button. Knowing this, I googled again and did an image search. I found it. The part is Yaesu RA064990A. Gigaparts has it at https://www.gigaparts.com/yaesu-ra064990a.html.

If you're still interested in the concept of a button clip, there seem to be ones made for Garmin GPS units that require you to push a latch to remove the radio, so it can't spin around and fall off. A little tinkering around should make it fit a Yaesu HT.
