Nice time, nice pic. Thats +20f degrees correct?

Yeah cold is single digits(F) and below. Really cold is -teens(F) and freezing your pahinkos off is -20's(F) and below.

Coldest I have been camping was -29-39f (-33.8C) Not sure if my thermometer was correct but local reports said -39 and my therm said -29f. I put one small mummy -5f bag inside of a large 0f bag and was toasty warm except for my freeking nose, lips and teeth. I actually slept in my down pants and primaloft jacket that night just to make sure I didnt get the chills at 3AM.

          What thermometer are you using?

California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

The thermometer was a Silva Sportsmans tool. The sell for around $6.95.
It has a thermometer, compass, whistle and magnifying glass in a gray casing. I've had it for about 7 years and it works fine. I think Colghan sells a similar item.

Awesome man! I have winter camped there twice and it was very memorable. Snow camping is a great reality check as far as exposure and moisture management, camp craft and insulation. Snow caves are so much warmer but take a lot of energy. Lets organize a N Cal snow camping trip. Maybe we could get some of these http://www.eskimold.com/ and build ourselves something to be proud of.

I love Lake Alpine. Pulled some beautiful trout out of there back in July. I don't think I remember there being so much snow there, though.
