Buttercup is NOT Glamis. Glamis is off of 78. Buttercup is off of I-8. Guns at either location not recommended. Plenty of open desert elsewhere.
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

I am going there to go off roading but it would be nice to see if my newly fixed shotgun worked.

Not the place to shoot. Also I think it is state park as you have to buy a pass.

Plenty of road signs along the way.

I believe Buttercup is considered to be part of the Imperial Sand Dunes, like Glamis, which means target shooting is prohibited. Confirm with the local BLM office.

You can drive from Glamis to Buttercup in a sandrail. If you continue down Gecko Rd. and follow the aqueduct about 15mi it will take you directly to Buttercup. There is no shooting allowed in the ISDRA but you can drive to an area of the desert that is not sand dunes and shoot.

It's a holiday this weekend so it will be packed out there. You're better going to the Chocolate Mountains or heading north up the railroad tracks past Mammoth Wash (towards Niland) and finding a place to shoot out there. Just make sure to stay out of the bombing range.

I think I will leave the guns at home this time.I can get in plenty of trouble just off roading.I gut put paddle tires on my Traxxas Slash to thrash in the sand with.
