Gold Panning for recreation, where to go?

When I'm bumming around the mountains, I bring a pan.

Anyone know of a good spot?

    For recreation that is.

We dont know how far or where your willing to go, but the american river area seems like a good bet. Do some research with google and you may find other places closer to you.

I was dirrected to a park on Bear Creek by a prospecting shop in Auburn. Of course, they were not going to give me dirrections to the mother lode but, all I wanted to do was take the kid out and see a bit of color in our pans. That is about all we got. A few small specks of color in each pan but, at least we found something.

If you are in northern CA, I have a 160 acre mining claim that you are welcome to use. PM me for details/location.

Affirmative. 2002 or 2003 I believe. Great piece of property. Hoping that they reinstate the patent process someday and grandfather the older ones @ the older rates.

Check out Sutter Creek. That's where it all started in California.
