Yep, they sure do. This was from my trip this weekend up to Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. This was on the trail to Sword Lake from the Wheats Meadow trailhead. Didn't run across this little fellow, luckily.

Maybe 10 years ago while on a hike in Devil's Canyon in Angeles National Forest I remember passing piles of nuts and berries at regular intervals along the trail. Didn't worry me much but I was amused that bear's use trails. What worried me was when I saw packs of stray dogs in LA using crosswalks, patiently waiting at the corner for the walk signal.Comment

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources is advising hikers and campers to take extra precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field. They advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. They also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear.
