    Went Camping In Stanislaus NF Tuolumne river **Pics**

    Went out with My dad and brother last weekend to do a weekend fishing, camping trip along the Tuolumne river. dont know the exact location but it was just inside the Stanislaus National Forest border. i believe it was the lower fork. felt great to get out into the forest again away from civilization. its been YEARS since i went on a real camping trip. The water was clear, and the air was fresh. here are a couple pics

      Very nice. Did you guys go in off Hwy 120 (Groveland) or Hwy 108 (Sonora)? Catch any fish or do any shooting? PAX

        went off the 108. did some fishing but no luck for me. my dad caught an 8" brown trout fly fishing. didnt see anything much bigger in the water, nothing but limit sized fish. did some target shooting with a small pellet/air gun my dad brought, kept the big guns in the car this trip.

          Nice man! It kind of reminds of camping up by Johnsondale.

            Great pictures, what kind of snake was that? I didn't know snake in California could swim.

            Why did it have to be snakes?

              i was walking along the river and almost stepped on it, then it darted out into the river and posted up on that rock. perfect picture opportunity

              looked like a garter snake to me. if my trivial memory serves me correctly, i believe rattlesnakes are the only snakes that cannot swim.

                    Kept the big guns in car? Not going to go there but i would consider car burglaries pretty high in such secluded areas! Great pics, good for your pops catching a fish.

                        @echo1...
                        I stand corrected. apparently all snakes can swim, googled it last night.

                        @drider...
                        my side arm was with me always, but we didn't feel like drawing much attention. since we didn't venture too far from our campsite (we were always within view) it wasn't a big worry. our entire camp area was empty, the closest campers were down river about half a mile and north of us was private property.

                          Our annual "Mancamp" trip is coming, end of June. I'm already pretty excited and your photos ain't helpin'!

                          Looks to be a Garter snake. We see lots of snakes in the water where we go and rattlesnakes do swim.

                          Nice photos... nice knife too.

                            Looks like a nice calm place, thanks for sharing and keying me into the area cus i'm relatively close to it.

                            Just my two cents I dont know if thats a Garter. Looks too big but you may be right.
