    Serrano campground in big bear. Good starter campground. And you have big bear village near by for markets in case you forgot anything and glamping activities such as eating out or going bowling etc. (if you want )

    It’s about as “easy” for camping as you can get in so cal.

      Lots of good suggestions here.
      Beach;
      El Capitan - Santa Barbara
      Leo Carrillo - Los Angeles
      Lake;
      Casitas - Ventura
      Castaic - Los Angeles
      Desert;
      Just about anywhere you want.
      Mountain;
      Buckhorn campground- Angeles National Forest
      Chailo Campground - Angeles National Forest
      And many many more.
      The key to camping is proper equipment.

          It's 4 hrs from LAX, but Panamint Springs Resort feels very remote yet offers tent spaces, plus they have a restaurant, toilets, shower, and is one valley from Death Valley. Prime time is October to late March.

            What's the concern for specifics? You can do that just about anywhere you feel like it in California!

                  Up the canyon north of Ojai is nice. There's a waterfall too. Not sure if the road is open. Wheeler Springs and Rose Valley.

                    Wheeler Gorge campground is really nice and OJAI is not too far if you need anything from the market. Last I checked though all the campground is the area have been closed indefinitely.

                      I am building protoype camping trailer now. Using fiberglass mil shipping container with double doors on back like small enclosed uhaul box trailer. I am putting fold out solar on roof. Has room inside for inverter and batteries and camp gear. will be 4' x4' x 7' easily towed by car. will have 6-800 watts of solar on roof. Sides will fold down for campstove and food prep counter and shelves for supplies.
