my paracord ridgeline knots have only limited holding ability.

at about 15-60lbs of pull they slip.

Is that normal and do I need to use thicker cord or rig more lines so pull force is reduced for each line, like with little pulley block and tackle?

Some of this is going to depend on how you are utilizing your 'ridgeline' in terms of what you're using and where you're using it. Obviously, the following are intended for tarp shelters and only represent a portion of the options.

I'm using it for a suspended "desk" strung between sturdy hand-hold rails, the rails being about 6ft apart. Do the desk has to hold a laptop and sometimes my meaty forearms. I'd LIKE to be able to easily adjust the height for either typing or just viewing or writing or dining.

Really shouldn't be more than a large tarp in a breeze especially with minor gusts, but I'm thinking these tarp ridgelines are supposed to last all night or more.

There some fancy way to interweave those super strong blue ropes for easy to adjust hammock lines that have the "gets stronger the more force". Maybe I'll try that.
