    Great Smoky Mountains

Hi in September I'm making a trip to Tennessee for a few weeks and will be hiking the smokies a few times I know Tennessee is a permitless carry state and hopefully will have my CA ccw by then which I believe they honor . What would you guys recommend to carry I know the GSM have a dense population of black bear . biggest handgun I have currently is a 45 acp was thinking of picking up a revolver just undecided on caliber.

    Bear spray and bells

You’re hardly in bear country there… if you were in MT, that’d be different.

So it is generally said, Black bears in the Smokies. Mama Bear with cubs is the usual danger. No grizz. 357 with a 6in or longer bbl and full power loads and lotsa butt wipe, yeah, for you.

Any of those will do. Be more worried about the 2 leg critters.
