I believe your tent/trailer is considered your “home” when camping, allowing to have guns while camping

I always bring along my girlfriends lil p238 while backpack camping. ~<1lb loaded.

I'm fully aware that such a small caliber is basically a loud noise maker if facing anything large, but I'd rather have that than nothing.

You can carry openly or concealed at your campsite. Transportation to and from would have to be locked and unloaded unless you are in the act of going to or coming from a Hunting or fishing outing unloaded. You can carry loaded while hunting or fishing.

You can carry loaded while hunting or fishing.

Be sure to have lead free ammo in your handgun if you plan to carry it while hunting. Even if the handgun is for self defense, not hunting, you could still run afoul of the DFW regs.
